Paul Morphy Chess Champion

Morphy...The Ultimate Coffee House Player

Most of Morphy's games were casual games. In fact his most famous game, and the most famous game of all time, the Opera House Massacre, was a casual game. In truth, Morphy only played in one official tournament, the 1857 US Championship (which he won) in his short playing career. He considered himself an amatuer player, and probably officially was one since he never truly made his living off of playing chess.
