This game was round 8 of the US Open Championship. Fischer was a 14 year old kid playing master adults and was cleaning up! Fischer in this game is up a single pawn. But because that pawn is passed and on the outside the enemy king is held to holding the pawn, and the white kings is able to go on a pawn eating rampage.

Remember these points:

  • Black's king is stuck blockading the outside passed pawn!
  • The king's a fighting piece!
  • Fischer needs to create another passed pawn on the other side of the board, and then the win is child's play.
