Contact us at Academic Chess
Academic Chess is an organization dedicated to the promotion of chess in our area. This website is dedicated to the Reno Nevada Academic Chess program for the schools. Our excitement to teach chess and all we know about it is our drive to expand this program throughout the community. We are making known the excellent life skills that can be learned by playing chess. Some consider chess an art, a sport, a science, and many other labels that can be applied. Whatever it is, it sure is fun! Kids all over are enjoying our teaching method.
Academic Chess is happy to accept and appreciates any donations. We have accepted a donation of a computer lab thanks to chess enthusiasts here in Reno. This was an extremely nice gesture that came from two separate sources that each offered us computer systems, parts, monitors, and all the needed equipment to operate a computer lab here at the club. We also accepted a donation of several hundred chess books from another source. We now have an extensive chess library for the students! Thank you very much on behalf of Academic Chess in Reno!
We need the communities help to continue providing an excellent place for children and adults to enjoy the benefits of a club totally dedicated to chess. If you can provide equipment, contacts, or funding, please contact us. Our mailing address is below as well as all of our contact information. Equipment is used for official district chess tournaments (tables, chairs, notebooks, etc.), club use (coffee maker, tables, chairs, magazines, etc.), and enrichment courses (chess pieces, boards, etc.). We always follow up on contacts and speak with many people in the community so that everyone is well aware of our cause. Funding is needed to provide many things including prizes for our tournaments and compensation for the time given to us by our helpers. If you are able to provide us with any of these needs, an honorable mention will be made in our newsletter and here on this page. Thank you.
