Our Philosophy

Academic Chess believes in making our tournaments fun and teach some important values during its tournaments. We realize we are working with kids, and our tournaments therefore are kid based and incorporate "fun" elements. Some jealous competitors accuse Academic Chess as not being for "serious players" because we adopt this approach. This is absolutely wrong. Academic Chess has coached some of the top kids in the state…but we do not believe in incorporating rigorous adult standards into our tournaments, just to impress a few overzealous parents.
